When Paul answered the question: Are people very musical in England?, he commented "No! We're a terribly unmusical nation...people, especially younger people, are embarrassed about singing and are consumers of music rather than creators". What do you think about that statement? Is it true in Canada, as well? How do you see yourself?
*
What is the song "The Rigs of the Time" about? Is it relevant today?

How would you describe the SOUND of the new song "The Rigs of the Time"?

Generally in these sessions, would you consider yourself to be a:
*
listener-enjoying the novelty of a foreign instructor, their voice and music
watcher-have my view on gallery and like to watch my friends
participator-sing along with as much as I can
So far, what is your favourite English folk song that we have sung and WHY?
*
What new information did you learn from Aimée today?
*
How do you feel about singing stories that involve drama on the sea/ocean??
*
I find the sea/ocean mysterious and enjoy imagining what it is like.
I really have no idea what the sea/ocean is like and have difficulties connecting with or understanding the drama it creates.
I have experienced the sea/ocean and find it easy to connect with the stories
I don't pay attention to the words and just enjoy the tune.

Choose the statement that best describes how you feel about performing "other" cultures' folk songs.
*
I feel uneasy about performing them because I don't want to get it wrong or offend.
It's just a song that is fun to sing and I don't really connect it to a culture.
It's important to learn as much about the original intent as possible and perform it with the appropriate spirit.
I like to learn the history behind the songs but I don't need to try to carry it into the performance.
